Welcome to Doodles from Debi

This is going to be my first attempt at blogging. I hope you will enjoy my meanderings. I know I am starting a little late but I am interested in finding out what all of these 23 things are. I am looking forward to talking with all of you and I hope that we can all help each other learn.

Uneventful Tuesday

This has been a relatively usual day. classes went a usual. Yearbook classes were fun. We have a camera that is not working properly. I believe that the lense is messed up. It will not focus. That is what I have spent a large amount of time on today.

It has been a deadline week for some of my yearbook students, but they are handling it pretty well. I have an all girl yearbook staff and sometimes tempers and emotions get a little wound up. At those times the yearbook room is not an especially fun place to be. Unfortunately those emotional times happen when we are working very hard to get pages into the plant.

Another thing that I have worked on the last couple of days is getting all of the resources that we have available in our high school library posted to the links button on the home page of our library website. I finally got it all finished up this morning with some minor tweeking. We installed a new library management program about 4 years ago. I have worked with what it can do in spurts. Yesterday, I discovered how easy it is to put links on the home page. The cool thing about this whole setup is that students can access library materials where ever they are, on or off campus. If they have access to a computer they have a whole world of sources available to help them do their research efficiently and with confidence. One teacher emailed me this morning after I sent a message to our staff telling them to investigate the new links. She said, "Wouldn't this have been great to have when we were in college.?"

The final thought I have today concerns my family. I have two young adult sons who have recently finished college and now moving into the work force. They both have jobs. YEAH! We are quite excited that my youngest son has not even finished his classes in his program and he will begin working tomorrow at his new job. He will work and use his work as on the job training that will allow him to finish his course work. He is really excited and my husband and I are excited for him.

My oldest son just recently got a job that he seems to like. He has had several experiences that have made it living on your own difficult. Shortly after Christmas, he called and said he had a job. He was schedules to start work on Tuesday of the following week. He went to work for a Toyota dealership on the Tuesday that Toyota announced the first of their recalls. Anyway, to make a long story short, he was so worried about what the future of Toyota was that he went out and started looking for another job. A week later he changed jobs and seems very content in his latest adventure in the job market.

I hope now we can all settle into a routine of normalcy. We will probably be moving my youngest son to a new place, after all, one does reach an age when it is not so cool to live with mom and dad anymore. But that is OK. We have struggled and now it is time to move forward.
